  1. Well, first you set your screen size to 4x3 (that's four by three). Then, reduce your bit rate to 1bit per second. You'll get a lot of video on one non-compliant VCD!

p.s. Yes it looks like crap, but the point is to fit a ridiculous amount of trash-quality video on one CD, right?
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  4. OK, don't expect really excellent video (the picture only contains 12 pixels) but it gives you bragging rights. You can say, "I fit every Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, and Logan's Run episode ever made on to 1 CD WOOT I'm KeWl". People all over the world will say you are cool!

Dude, do you watch your stuff on a DVD player or computer?
I downloaded your infamous "farscape" clip, I was *pretty* impressed that it used such a low bitrate for what it was. However, I found that it skipped a few times, the audio was a bit shitty and the picture was a bit... er... "fluidy" ( !? - Bit hard to put into words...). Not to mention the artifacts, small as they are. I would still consider it to be of low quality though, no way I would encode my films with that. Most of my encodes are like 1800kbps or more, the difference is obvious.
What about the template that you used for it, I read a few crumbles that it didnt work very well for a some people. Anyways, I'll stick with my own templates. I make up a custom template to suit what I encode, but I always use high bitrates. Nothing I have seen has ever come close to persuading me otherwise. Although I must say that your farscape clip is one of the best low bitrate clips I have seen. Nice effort.

    PS
    Cant please everyone can you?

  8. Actually, I wouldn't encode my movies with it either. I tend to stick to 3cd DVD2SVCD type stuff. Having saved up so long for CCE it would be a shame to waste it
However the template is really for non important stuff, episodes, black and white movies and maybe dvd extras etc.... I cant relate to that skipping stuff though ?? Where does it skip anyone?? I never watch on the p.c. and cant believe that anyone does. Thats what DivX is for. (Oh shit, maybe I just threw a spanner in the works )
To be honest my mates thought the full vcd of mine was just a regular dvd/vcd. Thats all that counts..... :P

  9. I MUST PROTEST THE FARSCAPE MPEG CREATED BY BILBOGOD DID NOT SKIP AT ALL AND I THOUGHT THE PICTURE WAS QUITE CRISP, BETTER THAN SOME OTHER VCD'S I HAVE COME ACROSS.

    LOL
Dude, it was lame quality compared to high bitrate video. I gave it some credit though; it looked pretty good for what it was. Though it is still far from high quality, it is the best low bitrate clip I have seen for a long time.
Hey, If you want me to encode a clip using a bitrate of 2000kbps for you to compare it to, just tell me.
BTW, I guess all DVD players arent created equal, what can I say? All my movies play just fine.

  14. Can you fit more if you glue more then one CD together?

Maybe make double sided vcds ??

PS.. anyone wanna sell me a DVD rewinder? My dvd player dont rewind them I guess cause the pimply kid at the movie store keeps charging me rewinding fees on all the dvds I return.. He seems to find it funny cause he laughs when I am walking out the door.. (weird kid)

Impossible to have the time do it. What is the point of having to fit 10,000 hours on a VCD? Too long, too much to view with poor visual. This would take forever, this is over a year continuously to run the whole VCD.

What a waste of time putting all that trash in a VCD and better to fit a much better quality video movie to enjoy.

I never thought having 10,000 hours of video in a CD be possible. Who knows in the future with advances in audio visual technology going so fast with improvements all the time. This would save space in a collection of videos.

A DVD movie is enough for me on television with magnificent image and surround sound and to enjoy it at home. It is there, just hire one from a video outlet, and no work making a movie. I just don't have the time making a VCD yet. See what happens with my home videos.

To increase the amount you can fit on one disc, use subtitles, get rid of the audio and get more video in!

This is a great idea for the deaf and the hearing impaired. I am one of them and subtitles would be great!
