  1. Hi,

I have created just a minimalistic open-source and free utility called TELXCC (available at GitHub https://github.com/forers/telxcc).

It extracts subtitles/cc from teletext in TS and creates SRT file. It is so easy to use , written in pure "C" (no Java runtime needed etc.), tiny (just 16 KiB in Linux profiled binary and has no dependency on other libraries), works perfectly on Linux, Mac and Windows and (for my native language "must" requirement) fully supports UNICODE via UTF-8. (Maybe I could create precompiled profiled binary files.)

    Just example:
    - This is raw TS dump (from DVB-T) (18 MiB)
    - This is SRT file produced (just run telxcc < telxcc_demo.ts > telxcc_demo.srt)
    - And here is link to MKV (muxed TS + SRT) (18 MiB)

Maybe someone would find it to be useful. (I know it definitely could be better and more complex, I just want it to be as simple, tiny and cross-platform compatible as possible.)

    Enjoy!

  2. Hello.

Thank you for your software, but I compiled and show this error:

    strip telxcc (no such file)
    error 1

See the files (.rar file with images, .srt converted and .ts file to test with cc).

Do you have this software ready to windows? (.exe file)? I need to use MINGW32 to use the file to convert.... If you have, please send me the new link with the software.

Please, convert this file to test the closed caption (with vlc show the closed caption)....

    Thank you

  3. Hi Frank,

my utility converts subtitles (closed captioning) only from _teletext_ packets in transport stream. Your TS file does not contain any teletext stream; in this case my utility is useless for you.

(BTW: strip utility is not needed, I will modify Makefile; it just strips debuging info from binary executable file.)

  4. Thank you.

Does exist way to extract "cc" in this file?

  5. Frank,

I do not know any such tool. However, I will evaluate a possibility to extend my utility/modify it to a general purpose TS CC extractor. I definitely do not promise anything, this week I need to release update (current version conforms to Level 1.0 of Teletext specification, I've been updating it to Level 1.5) etc.

If the closed captions are North American closed captions in an MPEG-2 .ts, then CCExtractorGUI can convert them to an .srt file. CCExtractorGUI works very well for North American closed captions, but not for teletext.

I do have the need to extract teletext from my TV recordings in DVB and this tool seems fit my need. Can you illustrate more on how to implement the program in Windows XP environment ? Thanks.

Thanks Frankviana. However, only a blank .srt file is generated by ccextractor. Are there any setting I need to pay attention ? Attached pls find the dumped screens of my ts video file.

  12. Gipsun,

Sorry, but I don't know this case... First, the cc didn't open, because I compiled the source code and show blank file.... But when I used the .exe, show the subtitles....

    Att,

    Frank

  13. petr_

Please, look this file and tell me why don't extract the subtitles with your software.... (dvb subtitles).. if is possible...

There are 2 options using vlc media player (dvb subtitles "txt" and dvb subtitles "portuguese")

    Thanks

  16. I have a problem using the new version. The cccextractor 0.58 version show the complete video subtitles using unicode and the ccextractor 0.59 don't show (don't appear). I uninstalled the 0.59... See the difference using this video and check only this options:

    1 - Import the video
2 - Check Decoder(1) Unicode and Roll UP (the 2 options: make letters... and don't duplicate...)
    3 - Execution

    Don't change anymore.

I did this options (ccextractor version 0.59 and don't show nothing), version 0.58 good.

This video for test the options:

    Att,
    Frank
