I have a PC with WIN XP SP2 and have 4GB flash drive which has two partitions with U3 system in one.It is infected with autorun.inf. When I tried to remove/delete/rename thro cmd command, I get the message "access denied". Can I get suggestions to get rid of that.
    Thanks.

It may not let you as long as the U3 is on there.

    What I'd do is:
Get the utility U3 Launchpad Removal Tool
Insert your Thumb drive, while holding down the [SHIFT] key to diable autorun
Backup the files you want to keep
    Run the removal utility
Repartition & Reformat (not-QUICK mode) the WHOLE drive

That should take care of it.

And the next time, convince yourself to ALWAYS "disable autorun for all drives"

I followed what you said. Removed U3 Launch pad which itself gave an option to reformat. I did that.
Wow, the autorun.inf virus has gone once for all. Great relief and now I feel free. I once again acknowledge your instant help. Now, I can use the entire 4GB as a thumb drive.

    El Heggunte

I disabled autorun for all drives. Great Pleasure. I Thank one and all of you.

    FYI, autorun.inf isn't the virus.
But it could link to one in a hidden folder.
