    What's a vinyl record?

    Just kidding!

If the records will not play, then what do you have to lose? I would try the two pieces of glass in the sun. However, I would monitor the progress very closely, because any heat that will "unwarp" the platter can also deform the tracks.

Bake it in the sun? No, I wouldn't. I would think that may do damage.

I'd opt for a hairdryer or heat gun held at a good distance for a short burst of time.

I've not had to do anything like this because warped records can still play.

  4. Get a turntable with a clamping spindle. The ones with a threaded spindle will allow you to screw a clamp down on the center hub of the record. It squishes the record flat for playing. Unless it's badly bent this will work fine.

Usually true, but if it is warped bad enough, you can hear the warble in the speed when the needle goes up and down hill.

I used to have a WinAmp plug-in that would emulate warped and scratched Vinyl: http://www.winamp.com/plugin/izotope-vinyl/39214

Two bits of glass method is genuine. Though not sure about putting them in the sun. I used to put mine in the airing cupboard (a heated cupboard for towels). Had mixed success.

I'd throw out any warped vinyl records.

I tried the 2 glasses and sun approach; it didn't work for me. Eventually I had to use a hair dryer to heat it up, then used the glass to apply pressure to flatten it again. Worked just fine and plays perfectly. Now I have The Wall on vinyl and only paid $3 for it.
