Hi, hope someone can help me out here! I wasn't sure whether to put this in authoring or ripping forum, since it's a bit of both.

I'm having a lot of trouble using DVDit PE to author certain DVD rips, so far I've had problems with Jurassic Park 1 and 2 (gave up on DVDit in the end) and now I'm getting grief with American Pie 2 (all Pal 16:9 versions by the way).

DVDit accepts the .m2v files for these movies, created with smartripper as per the guides on this site, but when I go to preview the movie in DVDit or add chapters is when the problems occur. For AP2, it just plays the .m2v totally black, although PowerDVD plays it fine, and when I try to add chapters, no matter how far into the movie, it gives the error that chapter points need to be at least 15 frames apart. When I added the m2vs for either Jurassic Park movie before (both of which also played fine via PowerDVD), I got the same problem when adding the chapter points, but the first 5-10 seconds (the studio logo) took up most of the timeline as represented along the bottom of the screen, and the rest of the movie was compacted into the last 1/4 of the line.

I've had loads of problems with DVDit crashing, but usually I can work around those (it often occurs when switching between movie and menu modes), but this one has me stumped: I'd use spruceup but that doesn't accept .ac3 files at all, and I'd have to crush the video quite a bit to fit .wav files on there. Anyone got any idea what's wrong, whether it's just some particular form of copy protection or some problem with DVDit itself? Cheers
