    Ok I have a problem here. I have lots and lots of favorite files on Internet Explorer. Whenever I want to reference one of those favorite files, I go to my favorites folder in the hard drive and find a specific favorite file throught the date modified tab. I find it easier to find it that way than to find it through the name of the file.

    And here comes the problem: I tried to back up my pc, but I aborted the operation because an issue occured. I then went to my favorite folder and somehow all of my "favorites" files now have the same modifeied date. Now I am having a very difficult time finding a "favorites" file that I want to open.

    I am wondering if you can undo a modified date to its original date creation? I know, it's an uncommon situation, but it is somehow affecting me!

    That would require MS saving the original date in some form of alternate backup spot, which it doesn't.

    However, Windows file system keeps track of 3 dates: creation date, modified date, and "last accessed" date. Just change the details list to show the creation date (instead of the default modified date) and you should be good to go.

    How do I change the details list so that it says "date created" and not "date modified"?

    [Menu | View | Details], then
    [Menu | View | Choose Details]

    or right-click on the column headers in Detail view and check off the ones you want.

    ok, I have the Date Created tab as your directions helped. Now I want the Date Modified tab of the "favorites" file to have the same date and time as to its corresponding Date Created tab. I am pretty sure that I can do this manually, but it will be very very time consuming as I will need to change about 500+ files.

    I am asking this because I want to back up the new and modified files of mine to an external hard drive, and I do not want the my previously backed up files to be overwritten by these files that have the same Modified Date.

    Is there any shortcuts of doing this or any programs that I can use?

    Thanks for all your help by the way

    Attribute Changer sounds nice and all, but like most TOUCH tools, doesn't seem to do a scripted batch transfer of CreateDate -> Modification Date. That's why I suggested what I did: because it DOES have those scripting capabilities (it even uses the above as an example on it's site).

    Hey, i downloaded the TouchPro program from your recommendation, but it seems I do not know how to open it. I first went to the start menu>All Programs>LD Design>Touch Pro> there are only two icons and netither opens TouchPro.

    I then tried to right click a file, but no TouchPro button appears.

    Any suggestions?

    Strange Cornucopia because using Attribute Changer I change 1000 files at sametime. No problem for me.

    @Cauptain,

    OF COURSE you can change 1500 files at a time. That's what Touch programs do. That's not what I was saying...

    Most Touch programs can take 1500 files which all have different Access dates (and different Mod or Create dates) and change them ALL to the same new date (either Access, Create or Mod, depending upon which you chose).
    But Touch Pro claims the ability to script the change such that, say All 1500 files that have recent Access/Mod dates have now had them replaced with EACH ONE'S original Create date.

    That's what the OP was asking, and that's what I commented on. Please pay attention.

    @gordes04,
    Did you read the TouchPro documentation & FAQ on the website. It seems pretty straightforward. Maybe you had trouble with the installation without realizing it. Also note, the "scripting" I was talking about gets run from the command line ("TouchCmd"). Read the examples on the website.
