Hi...I have had success capturing with my ADVC 100 unit via a National SVHS VCR > DataVideo TBC 3000.....but I had noise and I do not know if its the tape or the VCR player ....so I want to try a capture from my Samsung SV 2000MC VCR....of course its not a SVHS unit and has no Svideo input/ouput sockets so I just connected using RCA cables from it to the DataVideo 3000 unit and then to the ADVC 100 unit .....

BUT although the ADVC 100 is recognised by my PC and EditStudio there is no video ??? I wonder where I have gone wrong ....I have now established that there is no signal coming from the V out RCA socket from the DataVideo 3000 but there is a signal coming out from the Monitor RCA socket beside it ..but I presume that short circuits any benefits from having the DataVideo 3000 in the loop..at least I know its not the ADVC 100 thats the problem..Hence my posting here ...I think I have tried everything But if anybody has a solution here I would be grateful knowing.. I have tried the short Svideo/RCA cable which came with the ADVC unit thinking that if I plugged the Svideo into the Datavideo unit and used a RCA cable from it to the ADVC unit it might get a signal but no luck ...
Yes I know there is a V/Svideo switch on the DataVideo 3000 but I just cannot get a signal from it out to the Canopus ADVC 100 unit...Thanks MK

The TBC-3000 is a dual TBC with two independent channels. Is it possible that you are connecting the input to one channel and connecting to the output of the other channel? If not, have you tried both channels?
Life is better when you focus on the signals instead of the noise.

David..Thanks for your reply ..I do realise the TBC 3000 has two channels and I double checked connections....In the end I just plugged the Samsung into my TV and played a tape where I knew there was bad noise on a particular part I had captured...The noise was there so I basicly knew then it was on the tape and nothing to do with my National SVHS VCR....So I put the Samsung away where I found it and reconnected the National up again....and do you think I could get a video signal out from the DataVideo ...no way...I tryed everything ..Then I realised as I was using Source A ..why not try Source B ...and of course I have been capturing ever since....Once I have all my old VHS tapes captured I will pass this equipment on ...The ADVC100 was a real pain ..I set it up on my #1 PC and it was not recognised so I put in another Firewire card which did the trick and did some capturing then it started freezing up on me so I left it for a day ...however when I tryed it next day the ADVC again could not be seen ...So as a last resort I put the firewire card that I thought had a problem and was pulled from #1 PC into my #2 PC ....Cabled up and booted up the PC and the ADVC 100 was there and has never given me a problem since..Amazing ...It seems to me that some of my old VHS tapes have deteriorated and possibly why the quality is not as good as I hoped it would be but its the old story I was told many years ago when I first used a capture card....IE Garbage in Garbage out...HK
