  1. Hi.. aLL..
There's something I'd like to ask..
    CouLd anyone heLp..?
I've made a dvd compilation songs with adobe premiere. I'm trying to make it a karaoke version by separating the channels, left for only music, right for music and vocals.

Unfortunately, when I play it on a DVD player connected to TV, and push the R/L button, it's not working. The forbidden symbol appears.
Is there something I shouLd do, before rendering or burning into DVD disc ?

..and another thing, not aLL DVD pLayer (especiaLLy samsung) couLd pLay it..

    thx..

    Welcome w4ncent.

You need to create 2 complete sets

    1: With vocals
    2: Without vocals

Author dvd having main title using 2 audio files ... setup titles vm commands for two selectable english audio files ... done correctly you can simply use the remote to switch between the audio file being played.

Problem ... most likely cause is pcm audio ... convert to ac3 format should sort out those problem dvd players ... if issue is play or navigation you can correct the vm commands using pgcedit.

  3. You mean after burning to a dvd disc.. grab the files back, and edit it using pgcedit..?

    Maybe I'll need further heLp...

    Not quite.

When authoring media your main title will include

    1 x Video stream
    1 x Audio stream (vocals)
    1 x Audio stream (non-vocal)

You should be able to once authored use vlc to play back the video_ts folder on the pc to confirm audio switch ability.

There should be no need to set any further vm commands for main title unless you include a sub menu to reflect user choice prior to the main titles playback ... if so it's relatively simple to correct using pgcedit.

Once done you then burn to media ... if pgcedit was used you need to delete it's back folder ... it'll be in the video_ts directory.

  6. hmm... befOre continuing any further.. I wouLd like tO iLustrate the steps that I've done...
(maybe there's an error or mistaken or even uncompLete steps .. that you can show me..)
    First with Adobe Premiere..
I made a new project.. DV PAL standard 48 khz
    Insert some cLips, edit it..
Insert the audiO *.wav (I've edit it before with cakewaLk.. and mix it.. Left without vocals.. and right with vocaLs)
    Synchronize the video with audio..
Add some titles/lyrics.. syncronize with the audiO..
    After all seems ok (synchronized)..
Expot to movie... with the foLLowing settings,
Microsoft DV AVI .... and for the audio : uncompressed, 4800Hz, 16bit, stereo, interleave 1 frame.

All of the cLips with the same step...

Then I use DVD Movie Factory to make the menu titles... and ready to burn...
(Is there any other good simple DVD authoring freeware that I couLd use, to make the title and burn it into DVD disc?)

    Thx..

The way you're doing it is the way it was done for VCD, and VHS before that. Mainly, because thats the ONLY way you COULD do that in those systems.

For BD and DVD (and to a lesser extent even for SVCD), the expected method is to have totally separate streams authored into the title, like Bjs was saying.

Incidentally, BD & DVD do have DEDICATED methods with which to author true component (aka unmixed) audio streams into a title, such that you can, with special "KARAOKE"-capable players, do a separate mix of the various particular elements you want. This is another one of those COOL features in BD & DVD that never really got used.
