My Fairmount application (bundled with DVDRemaster) is not working. I don't know if it is because I upgraded Tiger operating system to Leopard or some DVD is encrypted in a new encryption.
Any alternatives or workarounds? Maybe some newer decrypting application?
    MacOS 10.5.8, G5/1.8
    MacOS 10.6.8, MacBook Pro 13"
In either case should I use the 32 or the 64 bit version?
Thanks in advance for any possible help.

Thank you so much for your response but the problem is not ripping the DVD. The problem is how to decrypt it as you can see in the attachment

  4. I understand. Ripit does decrypt it.
Fairmount decrypt's like AnyDVD (on Windows). Making the dvd look decrypted to other programs. Ripit, decrypts while ripping it to the hard drive like DVD Decrypter (on Windows).

Thanks for the reply but Ripit, Fairmount and HandBrake didn't decrypt the DVD as you can see in the above attachment. Is there still any hope I could decrypt it? any other application that could do the job?

  6. OK, if you tried Ripit and it did not decrypt it then I'm out of ideas.
    What DVD is it?

It's "Michelangeli plays Debussy", black and white video. I tried also MacTheRipper: no go.
Maybe there is some Windows app. Do you know any?

  9. Is this an original DVD?
Does this happen on every DVD or just this one?

It sounds like you are not even able to play the DVD. If you can't get the DVD to play, you are going to have a really hard time getting it to rip.
Can you verify that the DVD will play on either/both of these machines? If it won't play on the Mac, but will on a PC, then there may be some rootkit that gets automatically installed on the PC that allows it to play.

VLC can play it but not too well. The DVD is either strongly encrypted or corrupted. I think I'll give up.
Thanks to all who tried to help.
