mp4 hard sub

Hi guys. I know this is a noob question, but I can't find anywhere the right answer. Anyway, the problem is that I can do a hardsub video with avirecomp but it's too slow (90+ min for a 20min video). This is a profesional (fan)sub group and I wanna know how they are making hardsub since their releases are perfect and no one has a problem while playing the video.

P.p I've read the 2 other threads for hadsub but they aren't helping.

I've got another question : If you take a look at their releases, you'll notice that in the end of the name they've got[1B8B476F] [16FF861D] [1A03BD81] [8B595A78] [B66F7919] etc, etc... Any idea why/how is this being generated?

Problem N1 : The subtitles are in Bulgarian /cyrilic/. When I choose cyrilic in the menu I'm seeing ????????? ????? in the preview.
Problem N2: The original file was in .mkv format. I've demuxed it without the subtitles and I've used "WinAVI Video Converter" to make it in avi. Result = avi + embedded subtitles from the .mkv ...

Those numbers you are referring to seem to hashes which can be used to check the the downloaded file for errors. There are CRC applications that can be run against the file, if the the number generated by the CRC app matches the number in the brackets you can rest assured the file has not been tampered with.
As far as the hard subs go, I'm not all to sure that Taka is hard coding the subs , Taka usually soft-subs their releases which allows for multiple subs to be included with a single release, other wise they would have to encode a separate mkv for each language they released.

You sure? Every one is telling me that they are using hard - an .mp4. Anyway, I still can't solve my other problems - with the subtitles and the missing audio after the program finishesh.

I'm reasonably sure i use to watch their release of Naruto. Use Mediainfo on the downloaded stream it should give you all the details of the file. If it's truly a Taka joint it should be an h264 video, with AAC audio and a srt sub. Also if the subs are indeed hard coded they can not be de-muxed, as they are not part of the video stream. YOu may be able to use subRib to rip the subtitles if this is the case. Are you trying to hardcode the subtitles for use with AppleTV?

Well... I've downloaded HorribleSubs release and with mkvtoolnix I've made a .mkv file without any subtitles. Then with a video converter I've changed the format to .avi. Now what? When I add the videofile and create a subtitle filter I'm seeing "????? ?????" (perhaps because the subtitles are in cyrilic?). I'm making a new test right now ... I hope that I'll have a good quality (like before) + subtitles + SOUND ('cause last time there wasn't...). Have ever used this program?

You may need as additional character set to display Bulgarian subs. Are you able to display Bulgarian subs on any other groups?

xp - sp3, mpc-hc, wmp, vlc Please note that if I have an 1.avi & 1.srt - there isn't a problem. The problem is when I try to hardsub the .avi.

those players should display Bulgarian subs, there must be a problem with the process you are using how are you attempting to hard code the subs? And why not just add soft subs, if you use soft - subs all you need to do is re-mux the file with your srt file. To hard code subs mean you have ro re-encode the video and depending upon the speed of your PC that could take some time. My Athlon II X4 takes about an almost two hours to encode a 45 minute tv show.

if you have a working avi and srt files try using MKVmerge to merge the two together this will give you a MKV with soft-sub. Open MKV merge drag and drop the two files onto the GUIand click start.

But if must have hard subs you must re-encode there are many apps that will allow you to do this in the past i use VirtualDub but i believe AutoGk , Staxrip , or SUPER to be a better choice for beginners.

Yes, I can make them soft, but I can't see the subtitles in mpc-hc / wmp, only in VLC / I'm usig k-lice 701 codepac full/mega). Also there other users who can't properly render them.

I've tried a few times virtualdub - no luck. AutoGK can't find my xvid/divx codec - no luck too. SUPER - no luck. I don't know what to do more...
Avidemux is great - the % of loss quality is a small (or 0), the audio is good - only the cyrilic problem...

Edit : The general problem right now is that avidemux can't recognice properly the cyrilic symbols. Is it possible that I'm doing something wrong when I'm saving the subtitles in to .srt?

Aha! http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/9382/79427377.png ! When I create the subtlis I have to choose SubRip, then open then and make a new copy using UTF-8. In avidemux I choose UTF-8 and every thing is ok! Thanks for the help. Only one question : I want to save it using the most average codec so that everyone could play the videofile. Which one should I use? Or in other words : How can I find out which codecs are needed to play the file(so that I can add a link in the torrent tacker to them)? Edit : Now I have an A/V sync problem... Any ideas how to fix it?

I assume u mean the K-Lite codec pack, I don't use codec packs, IMO they seem to cause just as many problems as they solve. I use MPC-HC and FFDShow and have not had any problems playing any releases by any of the groups i follow. I would start here trying to solve your first problem. If you solve the problem as to why u can't see the subs, you don't have to worry with trying to solve the AV sync issue you are experiencing from re-encoding.

let's say i had a an episode of Naruto I wanted to add add additional subs to or change the default subs from English to another language I would use the following steps.

1. Load my original file into MKVmerge,.
2. Load my subtitle file into the file input section.
3. In the tracks section select your subtitle.
4. In the general tracks Section set your subtitle to be the default subtitle.
5. Click "Save"
You should now have a fully functional MKV file with soft subs defaulted to the language of your choice.

Ops. When I made that post there weren't any instructions. Sorry. I've didn't uninstall the codecs, but I can see the subtitles only in VLC.

Open MPC click view > Options. Under playback DirectShow Video make sure either VMR7 (renderless)** or VMR9 (renderless) is checked. Restart MPC and it should display subs.

Hi, yes in options -> playback -> output- > I've set vmr 7 and after the restart the subtitles are shown. We're making progress. :P
