The forum description says to put newbie questions here if you don't know which forum it belongs in...and so I am and apologize if this was the wrong place for it.
I want to get an LCD TV/Monitor unit but I am concerned about the size of the pC image on the screen. All of the TV/Monitor units are widescreen units. I saw someone who has a combo unit and the pc screen did not extend the full width of the screen, leaving black borders on both right and left sides.
Is that the way these LCD TV/Monitors all work, where the image is full-screen for the TV but not in PC mode, because the PC "screen" has different (narrower) dimensions that the TV screen?
I'm not sure I would be happy having those thick black borders all the time when using the pc.
thanks

No. Feed the TV/Monitor a 16:9 frame (eg. 1920x1080 or 1280x720) and it will fill the screen.
Be careful, TVs usually overscan the frame. Meaning a few percent of the image on all four edges will be cut off. Get a TV with a non overscan mode for computer use. I have a 46" Samsung LNT-4665 1920x1080 LCD HDTV connected via HDMI one of my PCs and it's just like having a giant computer monitor.
