    I do a podcast live on Ustream.tv and we record our videos on that website. The website records the files in .flv which is a very unfortunate file format because a lot of editors don't like it and youtube won't touch it. The podcast videos are also very long, longer than 1 hour usually. I have Adobe Premiere but its not really working for me at the moment.

    What I need is a simple freeware software that will let me convert the .flv videos into something more usable like .mpeg and also cut the videos into smaller pieces. Does anybody know of any software that can accomplish this task? Or maybe there are 2 pieces of reliable software that can do each task seperately?

    freemake video converter or avidemux. Both can also cut your video. And avidemux doesn't have to reconver your video.
