My Canon IXUS 220HS records HD video to .MOV files (MediaInfo dump below).

    I have two questions:

    1. What software will allow me to do basic edits such as splitting and combining these files?

    2. Is there a format I can convert them to that will be smaller in size but still HD quality?

    1. avidemux or mpeg streamclip.
    2. You can also shrink with those tools. Convert to h264 and lower the video bitrate. Or use a simplier software like freemake video converter.
