  1. How can I capture a video from a video card (for example, a Blackmagic card), and then stream it to some kind of server for distribution? I prefer it to encode to MPEG-4 H264.

    Thanks.

    What is the video source?

    Stream SD like Ustream?

  3. The video source is a Blackmagic card or any other DVB-S card (I don't care to buy one).

I want it to capture the video feed from the card and then encode it to MPEG-4 H264. Right now, I need it in normal SD.

Consider the Black Magic ATEM Television Studio which takes HDMI or SDI in and hardware encodes to h.264.

This could then feed a Viewcast Niagara or Telestream Wirecast software for stream upload to a service like Justin TV.

Or you could just feed DV over IEEE-1394 (Firewire) direct to the Wirecast software.

  5. Can't I do it with FFmpeg or similar software? I prefer it because the source will probably be satellite feed (using DVB-S card).
