Hi all, I have recently discovered XMedia Recode, it's a great piece of kit for converting MKV's to M4V apple tv without re encoding, previously I have been using handbrake, but was experiencing quality loss and long encode times which was unnecessary.
I'm using 2 tracks for the file, AAC and AC3 5.1 and i'm using the video copy option. (On the Apple site it says to have the AC3 5.1 track as second track and disabled by default, but I don't seem to be able to do this.)
The only issue I have with XMedia is that when I play back the file through my apple tv, the surround sound track won't play automatically (as it does with handbrake rips), no sound plays by default but both tracks are in the file. I have to manually switch to the AAC track and then back to the AC3 file to get it to play. Is there anyway around this as this is the only flaw so far in what is a great time saver.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

looks like there is something wrong with your aac conversion settings. it is listed as 0kbps which would end up with an empty stream.

i know i saw that too, but all files i import with AAC list it as 0kbps but the sound comes out as normal, not sure if its a glitch with the software or not, i've uninstalled and reinstalled it but its still the same, it lists the apple tv as a supported product and has its own profile for ATV so I don't see why it's not working, it should disable the surround sound track by default like handbrake does but when i playback the file on the Apple TV there is no sound, i have to change to AAC and back to the AC3 to get surround sound which is awkward

looks like the aac track is set on convert in the bottom panel. so it will convert it to a 0kbps audio file and no sound will play.
