  1. Hey,

I had this problem before and always had to use VLC then, which I don't like. I'm a MPC guy

Have Sh***s codec pack installed on my Win 7 64bit laptop and sometimes it happens that I have no sound in my mkv files. Just some clicking noise from time to time.

What is the workaround to this problem?

    Thanks guys!

First, drop one of those no-audio files into MediaInfo and see if the audio is really missing or just the wrong format or it's way out of specification. You can post a screen shot from MediaInfo-tree view. (Blank out the name of the video if you like.)

I use AC3 with most all of my MKV videos and MPCHC, Zoom, and VLC play them with no problems. I suspect you have a codec problem. If they play properly in VLC, that pretty much confirms it. You may have to set up the audio decoding with MPC.

    And welcome to our forums.

I wonder why I doesn't play automatically with the right settings. What do I have to change in MPCHC so it works?

    Thanks bro!

You can play AC3 with MPC-HC by using the internal filters or you can use ffdshow's audio decoders but you're better off installing the codecs.

    AC3ACM and AC3filter.

Also, if you set MediaInfo to text view, you'll get a lot more information about your files.

  5. Ok cool.

Just downloaded both those things, but no change. Do I have to do anything else?

Btw. Just updated DirectX, cause I read in another thread that this helped. No change either.

  6. AC3 isnt in the list of the filter tweaker.

  7. Got it working now.
Somehow never installed the x64 components of Shark007. That solved the problem.

And I finally got thumbnails on mkv again.

    Thanks for the help guys!
