  1. I was wondering if I could get at least MJPEG video with my current setup?

    Win 7 x64
    alienware 04vwf2 x58 mobo
    i7 920 OC @ 4.2GHz
2x ATI Radeon HD 5670 Overclocked
    3GB Tri-Channel RAM @ 1600MHz
    1TB 7200RPM HDD

I have a free PCI-e slot, but I heard there are some issues using the BMI pro with the x58 motherboards?

    I'm not sure if it's a x1, x4, or x16 slot, can I use any PCI-e slot?

    Thanks for helping a newbie.

  2. The system is powerful enough. From all the posts around here it seems to be very tricky getting the Intensity Pro working with 64 bit Win7.

    here are the support notes.

other than not enough ram, motherboard and video cards not on the tested working list and a single hard drive - maybe. you might try asking bm support.

  4. You want to capture to a drive that's not your boot drive. And not an external USB drive.

I can always get more RAM, and I doubt the video cards will be an issue because the HD 4670 is on the tested list, so a 5670 should work. The motherboard is my main concern though. It says it supports x58 motherboards, with the exception of the DX58SO, and the Asus P6T(fixed in BIOS update), but I want to make sure it will work.

So would I just go out and buy another HDD and configure them in RAID 0? Do you know if my motherboard has RAID support or will I need to purchase an adapter?

Will compatibility mode be of any use? Are there any solutions to this, or will I have to dual boot another OS?

edit: maybe like this guy? http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1333927

to do raid 0 you would need to add 2 more drive and configure them for the raid array.

check your manual, i'd guess it has enough sata connectors on the motherboard but i can't see it from here

You can try running the utility the Black Magic supplies to see if the drive(s) are enough to support capture. The mode of capture will affect whether or not you can capture to the HDDs. It can be down loaded from the BM site. The Intensity Pro will work in a 1x, 2x, 4x, 8x slot. Putting it in anything but a 1x is probably overkill. I agree with aedipuss you will probably need a RAID0 configuration with at least 2 drives. In my system a RAID0 with 3 drives is needed to capture at 1920 1080i 59.94. You don't want any other programs running in the background when you capture. Whether or not you can preview the capture may in fact be a function of the video card and the drivers. I had to back up to an earlier version of drivers for my ATI 1950Pro. Black Magic support can probably answer some of your questions they helped me out with the video card problem.

Can you please give me the link to the utility? Without a RAID setup can I capture MJPEG Video? Will it work in an x16 slot as well? Thanks for your help.

I don't think I have the manual anymore, but as long as I have enough SATA connectors I can do it?

  13. So to summarize, with 2 more HDDs and 1GB more RAM, I should be able to run it?

  14. I'm gonna call Blackmagic support today also.
update: they're closed until next monday and I won't be able to call them next week. Hopefully you guys can help me figure this out before then.

don't count on it, but if you buy one make sure it's from a place you can return it without a hassle if it doesn't work with your stuff.

  18. I had the Intensity Pro...never had any issues with my x58 motherboard or 64 bit OS...

But yea, you should probably get 2 or more hard drive and Raid 0 them...your motherboard should be able to do that without the need to purchase a seperate raid controller card
