Hi there, I'm looking to make a DVD from a DVD if that's the correct way to put it. I've read loads and loads but several attempts have not worked out well. The general idea is to rip the DVD with Handbrake with no audio needed on the outputted files I can do this fine just unsure what the best settings would be to use, I'm hoping that by not needing audio I can preserve my video quality as best as possible. So should I output as MP4 or MKV? Should I encode with H264 or MPEG-4(ffmpeg)?
If it helps or makes a difference I intend on using Sony DVD Architect to put the DVD back together again.

No. Don't convert anything as you will lose much quality. Check first of dvd architect can import dvds directly. If not then use either vob2mpg to get a mpgs from your dvd or pgcdemux to split to separate video and audio streams. THen import those in dvd architect.

OK this sounds much better in terms of keeping the quality thanks Baldrick. I can import VOB files in Sony DVD Architect but don't seem to be able to disable the audio. I've already used vob2mpg to get my mpegs but I can't disable audio with it but the quality is excellent so is there something I can use on these mpegs to remove the audio without sacrificing quality?

Thank you so much Baldrick didn't realise that Sony DVD Architect would import m2v files also (whatever they are ha) I had spent days trying various ways with Sony Vegas, Handbrake, Super and numerous other ways that took ages and didn't get me the same results as PgcDemux in a fraction of the time, wish I had of posted sooner, keep up the good work!!
