  1. Hi. Having checked Videolan's webpage it seems VLC should be capable of playing MKV files. Indeed, many people use VLC as it 'can play anything'. Can anyone suggest a reason why I'm only getting audio when playing this file? (It was originally in a different format but the AR was wrong so I used Solveig to convert.)

    I guess it didn't play before you used solveig to change AR?

  3. That, I do not know - my previous player was GOM. I've recently re-installed Windows and I'm trying to have as few players/codecs installed as possible. But it looks like I'll need a third to go with WMP and VLC. It'll be either KMP or POT (assuming POT has the ability to act as a 'recorder' in the same way as KMP. Should do, it's the same developer who's behind it.)
