FAVC freezes in Windows 7

Running Windows 7, trying to use FAVC with QuEnc.

Using the 64 bit version of FAVC I can select HcEnc and it creates the MPEG file without any problems.
Selecting QuEnc, it freezes.
TaskManager reports that QuEnc is not responding.
I can run the QuEnc file out of the subfolder included with FAVC and there is no error, it creates the MPEG file OK.

FAVC hasn't been updated since before the release of Windows 7, so this isn't surprising. Does it work when HCEnc is called instead ?

Otherwise look at something like AVStoDVD, which is still actively supported.

HcEnc works with FAVC OK.

I tried AVStoDVD and it's showing the same problem - QuEnc not responding.

I guess that lets FAVC of the hook.

I changed the 4cc code to DX50 and both programs run OK

Seems like a problem with the way Quenc works under 64bit windows when called from other tools.

I'm going to post in the AVStoDVD thread.
In the interim I can have the XviD codec write DX50 to the 4CC for new files.

MrC at Doom9 suggested installing Windows 7 Preferred Filter Tweaker and selecting XviD as default - it worked.
Both FAVC and AVStoDVD now work with QuEnc.
