    Hi newbie here,

    I just bought a Sony SR500H dvd player but am having problems with the remote control. It seems I have to hold down a button for about 8 seconds before it will be recognized by the dvd player and respond. I programmed the remote to control my LG TV and it works fine.

    When I put the remote up to the sensor, about an inch away, it seems to work fine but anything bigger than that range you have to hold it down for at least 5 seconds. Could it be a faulty sensor in the dvd player itself?

    FIXED!

    Contacted sony online support, this worked:

    Taking out the batteries and pressing each button twice on the remote, then putting the batteries back in...and voila!

    weird, dunno how that helped exactly but it did
