So in the new version of Quicktime it seems that Apple no longer likes what Adobe Premiere calls "Standard" mp4 multiplexing. They offer two other choices "iPod" and "PSP". It looks to me like only iPod is the only one fully supported by Quicktime now (it gives a "The movie contains an incorrect time value" error on the standard one). My question is a general one. I thought m4p was the end all beat all standard format that everyone could play back (if you used supported video and audio streams), but it seems that some companies went and screwed it up in the multiplexing area. Why are there different muxing styles? Is there really a "Standard" one that Apple is stupidly not supporting, or is the iPod type slowly becoming standard? How about the PS3 or XBox, what do they work with or want. What is the difference between these styles? Anyway, after hunting around on the net for some real discussion of these issues and not finding anything satisfying I thought I would ask the experts around here if they can enlighten me and the rest of the web as to the reasons and solutions to this mess.
