A lot of people have told me that multiAVCHD is one of the best (free) video transcoders out there. Problem is I can't even get it to work. Whenever I try to convert a video file of any format to any other format, when I press the "start" button, multiAVCHD crashses with a C++ runtime error. Doesn't matter what video file I' trying to convert, or what video format I try to convert it to. Also, I've tried about 3 versions of the program and get the same error every time. I've tried 4.1 (build 767), 4.1 (build 770), and the last version of version 4.0. I get the same error no matter what. Any suggestions?

Actually, I don't have ANY of those installed, and I noticed in the log window on the right, in an error message, it makes reference to all of those programs. Do I have to install all 3 of them for the program to work?

FUUUGK!!!! Ok, I'll install all of them tomorrow morning. I'm too drunk right now, and watching Transformers ROTF (for the umpteenth time), in anticipation of Transformers DOTM on the 28th. Tomorrow morning I'll install all of those programs you mentioned, then try to do some transcoding. I'll post my success/failure to the thread tomorrow. Thanks for your help, and please check back for my updated posts in case it still doesn't work after I install all that stuff.......

My friend, wanted to give you an update on multiavchd. I installed all the programs you mentioned above, and now it WORKS! It converts mkv to dvd, plus converts all the other types of files I need done. Thanks a LOT for that into! It's weird that nobody thought to post that with the instructions to the program. Anyways, I love this program because it's POWERFUL. It's not for beginners, that's for sure. I've been doing video editing with various programs for YEARS, so I will be able to figure this program out in no time. I'm going to tweak it just right for my conversions from mkv to dvd. Thanks again for your help!
