I am new to video editing.
I have some movies in mp4, avi and mkv formats.
And most have
AVC/H.264 or XviD as video and
AAC or mp3 as audio.
I want to make montages from these files.
I have used Avidemux to do some basic editing and
had a look at Premiere Pro.
From the little experience I had, I found that Avidemux could handle most files and give quick results. But for multiple sources it isn't sufficient.
In Adobe Premiere Pro, I could do multiple files, but I had these problems:
- It supports less files. So, unlike Avidemux, I couldn't use them without conversion.
- I have to worry about all the high level settings which I don't need.
- When I import files I have to change the pixel aspect ratio.
- It takes a lot of time to process the final result.
What I especially liked about Avidemux is that apart from the encoder, nothing else was necessary to be specified.
What software do you recommend which can handle those videos like Avidemux and has editing features like Premiere Pro (especially the nice timeline and effects)?
I did consider Ulead VideoStudio and AVC Video Editor. But before trying them, I would like your advice (I got a bit frustrated trying Premiere Pro).
