always created shortcuts of the folders in use in case of a crash .
did you create the folder's in use shortcuts, ...ok

jenna clip with blotchy first 4 secs start [purposely left in 4 secs in creating org mp4, so the blotchiness at the start of a clip can be cut out. At times setting the mp4 encoder to create at a faster rate leads to the start of video in being blotchy as the encoder looks ahead to set its compression factor.

over the years used several methods in using freeware here 3 of 5 [in an recent blogbit here at videohelp posted another method]

Not explaining why just how:

TEST: Create an mp4. include 4 extra seconds earlier from where you really want the video to start. The mp4 goes into MP4cam2AVI [using v2.83], i have it set to expert [so my ego feels good?] No so one can set its VIDEO FORMAT to source video (no re compression) [as its developer stats] BUT NOTICE THE AUDIO SETTINGS try the default. PLAY THE VIDEO if there is audio go ahead, if no audio [take the cotton out of your ears?] try the other audio choices REMEMBER PCM in some compu'rs locks explorer [use UNLOCKER to unlock, this way if you wish to delete that locked file it doesn't cause compu'r to crashes every time you highlight that file]. Now even if the pop up box stating explorer crashed appears still try to do the next step under that pop up [just remember the folders being used]. OR USE THE LAME MP3 BEST QUALITY i recommend the latter this so video stays the same quality.

Now the MP4cam2AVI developer states use virtualdub [one of the best softwares i state] but being i have vitDb's codecs set to my preference and don't like to touch that. Therefore i use VIDEO EDIT MASTER v1.8 (VEM) by Hazem Osman [with a few renaming tricks it edits videos it shouldn't - a hidden treasure] enter the MP4cam2AVI source video (no re-compression) created AVI [with audio] that came out of MP4cam2AVI into VEM. Double click the thumbnail and play the clip and edit out In this example the first 4 secs

the video out of VIDEO EDIT MASTER is now placed in avidemux select FORMAT, in this case mp4 and

----- most problems in this scenario start here -----

skip all the explanation below and create an mp3 from the VEM AVI . Try a low-med quality mp3 if final output size is an issue. Then in avidemux select "copy video" and "copy audio" and its an mp4 output. Now enter the mp3 created from the VEN AVI audio by selecting in avidemux AUDIO>MAIN TRACK>"EXTRENAL MP3" choose the mp3 file and create mp4 in avdemux. Depending of the mp3 quality/size the edited/cut mp4 should be smaller than the original mp4.

or try the tricky styles that follow, tricky in that they play in some interfaces not in others.

here same VID
original:

First 5 seconds removed w/o re compression [twin-Q]:

instead of skipping and creating an mp3 from the avi output of VEM select in avidemux audio AAC [or whatever is a compatible output for your codecs mp4s] LEAVE VIDEO to COPY mode click avidemux's FILE>SAVE>SAVE VIDEO title and add mp4 extension click SAVE once ...HOLD IT HOLD IT!

..............i'm skipping the 4 other ways to create the audio as i think it would cause more confusion if one wants to try then use YAMB [not the beta version], freAC, virtualdub in several combinations but never use nor delete the original mp4 use a copy.
