Hey there,
as the title says, I am looking for a CUDA or OpenCL encoder that is properly installed in the codec list and thus able to handle command line input.
I thought all the programs like badaboom or mediacoder would install a codec for it, but they are using a closed architecture for that. So now I cant convert any video from my webcam to a file because the plugin I use for a different program only accepts installed codecs and the Atom/ION PC I use isnt fast enough to use just the CPU. It needs to use the GPU.
Thank you.

Somewhere, I got a cudaH264Enc.exe to try with Virtualdub's external encoder feature but I could not get it to work. I used this command that I got from whatever forum that I discovered the encoder but Virtualdub would not create the file. It did not give me an error. It just set there showing the time it would take to encode which kept going up (hours) but no frames were being encoded. When I tried to shut Virtualdub down it said that it had stopped responding.
-i "$(SourceFile)" -o "$(tempvideofile)" -profile 0 -preset -1 -idrp 15 -qp 25 -qpp 28 -qpb 31 -deblock -pinterval 3 -rc 1 -abit $(VideoBitrate) -
Yeah, thats Mediacoders Cuda edition which doesnt even work right now because of some "expired licence" message.
But even if it worked, I tried it already, it doesnt install any codec into windows either. -
Yeah, it's just an exe file like most command line encoders. I keep them all in one folder in C:\ that is easy to get to with my external encoder in Virtualdub (aften.exe, cudah264enc.exe, ffmpeg.exe, lame.exe, mp4box.exe, neroaacenc.exe, x264.exe). MKVmerge.exe is in program files.

Hybrid also has a command line encoder that, like Mediacoder, uses the nvidia decoder Libary, sadly this won't help with your problem, since you need a vfw gpu based encoder. (haven't heard of a vfw based gpu encoder)

Mainconcept offers a DirectShow H.264 Encoder which uses CUDA (see: http://www.mainconcept.com/products/sdks/gpu-acceleration/cuda-h264avc.html) which is part of their sdk.

Yeah I know, but that sounds more like a price of in the thousands or mid to high hundreds, if they dont even mention a price or order option on their webpage and everyone has to ask for a price separately.

iirc they offer a trial version if one uses their licensing contact dialog,..

A trial version wont help me. I want to record hours for years to come, not 2 mins or so for 30 days.

Ever thought about using vlc/mencoder/ffmpeg you grab the input of the webcam and pipe the output to a command line h.264 encoder?
-
Sorry, than I'm at the end of my wisdom since I got null experience with plugins for a Car PC front end,...
I wish you luck finding a solution. -
there used to be an gpu powered vfw mpeg-2 encoder, called gpeg2, but the site is gone and all i can find is some old references to it and all the download links are broken,
it's too bad, it was a nice piece of software, worked really well, gave good results, it cost $30 but it would have done what you wanted.
i'll keep digging and see if i can come up with anything. -
deadrats:
Just noticed you posted a few mins before me. Thanks for your efforts. I really hope that website is only down temporarily. -
they used to offer plugins specifically various pro level software, i think one of them may have bought them out with the intent of integrated the codec into their pro app.
