  1. Having endured the normal set up nightmares with anything microsoft, having to manually run an exe file to ensure the set up does not freeze!, i have got 99% there only to get the following ....

No channels were found .Make sure your tv equipment is connected correctly.

Now the PVR IS recognised as the tuner and i'm offered a choice of Virgin tv Bromley and uk cable analogue and digital and on all 3 it finds nothing.

My hardware hook up is vbox to PVR via component and PVR to pc via usb, and pc graphics card to home cinema amp and tv via hdmi.

The vbox channels are being received to the pc through Total Media Extreme. All seems in place, so what needs to be done so that WMC can find the channels?

Anyone successfully set this lot up? I'm so damned close!

Did you install the DVBLink product for the HD PVR? My understanding is that Windows Media Center won't recognize the HD PVR without this software plug-in. http://1geek1tool.com/hdpvr

Try disconnecting the HDMI out on the vbox to TV and see if the PVR can then see the channels. On my cable box I have the HDMI to the TV and the component to the PVR and the cable box doesn't always like to have two live outputs.

  5. usually_quiet i have the following installed HD PVR support for Windows Media Center (beta version) Version: 28271 File Size: 10.8MB hdpvr-mce-28271.zip

Presumably i would need to uninstall this before i install http://1geek1tool.com/hdpvr ?, or do i need both?

festmaster, correct me if i'm wrong, but i don't think in my case pulling the HDMI will help, as i have a Virgin Media V+ box and i have switched the output to component from HDMI?

DVBLink's/1geek1tool's solution for Windows Media Center was released first. I had forgotten Hauppauge offered one too. (Both solutions are for Windows 7 only.) I don't know if Hauppauge's drivers conflict with 1geek1tool's. You should probably ask 1geek1tool's support about this if you want to try their plug-in. DVDVBLink's solution is not free, so you probably want to use Hauppauge's if you can. I have looked into the HD-PVR for myself but don't have one yet, so I can't offer advice on what to do next in the installation process.

If you don't succeed with the Hauppauge driver package you have, you could also try the new driver package that was released in April 2011 for the HD PVR and Colossus before trying 1geek1tool's plug-in. Release notes are here http://www.hauppauge.com/PDFs/hdpvr_col_for_mce.pdf.pdf The new drivers are accessed via another tab on the US support page for the HD PVR at http://www.hauppauge.com/site/support/support_hdpvr.html The tab is labeled "For Windows Media Center". The U.K. website does not have it yet.
