HD Camcorder: SONY HDR-UX5
file format: .m2ts
1st let me say: I'm a TOTAL NEWBIE to editing Videos, so Thank you for being patient with me.
I spent hours video taping "how-to" videos for a friends business using her Sony HD XU5 Camcorder
but now I found out this camcorder only allows editing inside the camera. The files can be
transferred to a PC but can't be edited in the PC. YUCK@!
1st I thought I'd play the small disks on the DVD player & copy the files from the DVD player to the PC
but then I thought I might copy the tiny DVD disks to VCR tapes and then copy the VCR tapes back onto a DVD
..... could be a big waste of time but I'm hoping when the files are copied to the VHS format they will change
and maybe be workable when copied back to DVD.
Told you I didn't know what I was doing!!!
Still Hope this makes any sense?and there's a work-around.
Bottom line, I'd like to be able to edit these files on my PC so I can later
upload them to uTube. I am open to any constructive advice.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch!

I can tell you ... M2TS video files are one of the file formats that Hauppauge HD-PVR makes ... and I've had good luck processing them with VideoRedo x264 version ... but the other guys here ... use other programs ... wait a few hours and the other guys at this website will jump in and give you their 2 cents
