Long ago I got DVD Player. It is hooked up to my TV. I hate to admit it, but I don't know how to work it.
When I follow the instructions it starts:
    1) Turn on the TV
    2) Click TV (on/standby) button
So far so good, but then
    3) Switch the input selector on your TV so that the signal from the player appears on the TV screen.

I understand what to do with No. 4) and 5) but number 3, I do not understand what they mean by input selector.
My only excuse .....I'm a senior and english is not my native language.
    Hopefully someone can help me.
    Thank you, Laura

Is your TV set as old as the DVD player?

Your tv remote should have a button that says "input" or if it's an older tv, you might have to go down past Ch. 1 til you get to "aux". Then you should see the dvd welcome screen, or the dvd menu, when you push those buttons. You may have to push the input button more than once. Make sure the dvd player is on when you do this.

More info would help...do you have the dvd player hooked up with composite (rca, red/white/yellow) cables to the tv? How old is it?
    The torture never stops!

Hello Guys, thank you so much for your replies. I can't believe it but I figured it out all by myself. My TV is a Sony, but my clicker is from COMCAST. When I want to use my DVD, I have to use my old clicker which came with the Sony TV. Problem solved,
    Thank you again,
    Laura
