Hello. If anyone has successfully backed up the Robin Hood (2010) Blu-ray which features both Unrated Director's Cut and Theatrical Release, I would like to request some help. I'm not sure how to tell BD RB which version of the movie I want to back up. I am currently backing up to BD25, but this is the first movie I have run into this issue with. I recently got Inception as well, but I'm guessing the solution to this movie will prove to be the same for any other Blu-rays in this format. Basically, I just want the Theatrical version for my backup. I also want to ensure it's the right audio for this version. I'm not sure how to go about doing this. Thank you in advance for any help you may offer.

  2. Most of these releases use what is called "branching disks". You can only select the theatrical version if you have bdrb in movie only mode. Select Other Movie-Only Playlist and select one of the playlists.

In this example, you see playlist 802 and 810 are the theatrical and directors cuts. I'm assuming the shorter one is the theatrical and the longer one is the director's version.

Thanks. I was actually looking around in the "Other Movie Playlist" menu that you posted, but mine has a great number more options. I was hesitant to make a selection without knowing what I was doing. I'm at work now, but when I get home I'll take a second look at the menu and post a SS.

  4. If you're unsure which playlist to select, I suggest you open the disc (or rip) in BDinfo. It will list all the *.mpls files (playlists), along with run times. Just to double-check what BDRB is telling you. Write down all likely candidates.

You can navigate to the playlists (in the BDMV folder) and open one in MPCHC, and it will play the entire title associated with that playlist file. So you can view the title before selecting it in BDRB.

    Good luck.

  5. According to imdb.com the theatrical version is 140 mins and the director's cut is 156 mins. I'd select the playlist that matches the version I wanted to keep. If there are multiple playlists with the same times, then I'd select the one with the most chapters. In my example:

Playlist 810 is the shorter version (presumably the theatrical version) with 21 chapters and playlist 802 is the longer version (presumably the director's cut) with 21 chapters.

I use mpchc also. I use it to determine which audio streams I want to keep. I always keep the HD stream. I also sometimes keep director/actor commentaries. If there is a descriptive audio track, I x it out.

Great responses all around. I used MPCHC to check out the playlists, and then translated that over to BDRB. Thanks again.
