  2. If by DV artifacts, you mean interlace artifacts, then just de-interlace with virtualdub/tmpgenc/whatever. (But ofcourse don't do this, if you're going to end up making a videotape/DVD with your DV material.)
If DV artifacts are something else, that I'm not aware of, then I can't help, but will be glad if someone could tell me about it!

    the areas with transitions/video effects...

    Slave > Slave
    Master > Master
    Master > Slave
    Slave > Master ? )

I use Premiere 6 with Pinnacle DV500 Plus

    computer:
    Dell Dimension 8200
    P4 1,8 Ghz. -- 256 RDRam
60 GB Master HD 72000 RPM (DMA mode 5)
40 GB Slave HD 72000 RPM (DMA mode 5)

  4. Hm! I've noticed such errors in video a few times! Discovered, that they only occured when I recorded in long play mode. I've never seen any on a recording done in short play mode!?!

I notice them from time to time, when the video sync signal is weak. This happens when converting analog video with (for example) the HW bridge.Sometime Digital Noise Reduction can confuse the A/D converter to.Using a video enhancer make things better (but not too much).
And bad settings in the PC whilst capturing (dropped frames look alike the colered blocks).
And yes, LP recordings make things worse.Best ist direct capturing from receiver, then SVHS than SVHS-ET (SP) and then VHS SP.LP ist worst.

  6. I don't get artifacts with capturing...I get them when I render the final project... I export to HD, not to tape...
