PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ...Basically my question is how to get the AC3 file to convert to mp3 or wave????preferablly without besweet cause it didnt work for me.

  2. What did you extract the wav from and why did you rename it to ac3? You can't make an mpeg1 or 2 with ac3, only stereo or surround.

  4. If you are extracting the ac3 from a vob you can use vob2audio to get a wav. If you have an ac3 you can get wav with sonic foundry soft encode.

  5. You could just open up the AVI in TMPGEnc and extract the avi's audio to wave. To do this, open the avi as if you were going to convert it. Then go to File/Output Format and select Wave File. This will extract the audio from the avi to Wave. It should work, or you could just extract the AC3 file and encode the video. Then multiplex it with the MPEG-2 video file. It's gonna be big though.

I've got the exact problem... An AVI file with some 5 channel AC3 sound. Tmpegenc will not regognise the audiosource in the avi-file. Just like FiRe_GReeN_MaN i've scanned the net for some tools to do the job for me. I found some AC3 to WAV/MP3 tools, but they all require a pure AC3-file for input. And how do I extract the AC3-sound form the AVI-file?? I think FiRe_GReeN_MaN's problem is that Virtual Dub is not able to extract the sound in a proper way. Doing the dirty namechange from Wav to AC3 in a way proves this... Ofcourse, I can be wrong... But I also desperatly need help with this...

try play your divxac3 with media player and go to file->properties->advanced and tell me what audio decoder it uses. for me it is intervideo audio decoder and I can use tmpgenc directly to encode if just increase the directshow reader priority.

it also worked to use virtualdub and save wav to get the ac3 and the convert it to wav with azid with the besweet gui(click on azid2)...it didnt work to convert directly to mp2 audio with besweet though.

My mediaplayer7 says unknown audiocodec. Virtual Dub "under File Information" also says that compression is unknown, but with info that it has "tag 2000"... However, both play the AVIfile with proper sound!! I'll try your way to extract and convert. Thanx!

  12. Get Graphedit from doom9.org,

open the program, file, render media file.
Delete the DivX Decoder Filter, Video Renderer and Default Direct Sound devide.

Graph, insert filters (ctrl F), Direct Show Filter

Add one Wav Dest and one Filewriter. When filewriter asks you for a name tell it to use whatever.wav

Connect the output from Morgan Stream Switcher to Wav Dest, connect Wave Dest to Filewriter. To do this just click and drag your mouse from the "output box" from one filter to the input box on the next filter.

Now select Graph and then play, or just hit the play button. Wait afew minutes. Now you got a perfect wav file. You will most likely have to lower the sample rate to 44100 for it to work with a SVCD or VCD. Use SSRC for this.

Thanx ALOT! After a few minutes Graphedit turns into one of he best programs I've EVER seen... Just brilliant!!! It seems to have everything, and a little more. After I found out how to use the filters and it's "connections", it was like building with LEGO!!!

Do I need to say it did he work for me!! :-)

Thanks for this guide..... It solved my problems also. But I had problems with the step. Insert Filters, nothing happened. No window for filters appeard... I tried everything, searced for filters to install and so on... Finaly I found out How to do. Direct after opening Graphedit, press insert filters..Then it opened ... Hurray... And then close the window.
Then open video and continue according the guide above. Maybe The program needed a' "Kick" in the beginning to open insert filters.....

By the way..You did'nt test the guide for Virtual dub.... First open the DivX in Virtualdub, select under Audio->Direct Stream Copy and File->Save as Wav to save the ac3, name it as file.ac3 because Virtualdub will NOT convert it to wav only copy the ac3 audio to a single file. And then continue with Tempgenc...

Open filters, then Direct Show Filter .
In that folder you find them all..
    Wave Dest and Filewriter.

  17. The only filter that starts with wave under direct show filters is wave parser, no wave dest at all.

  19. Here is my solution to the original question. As you already did, in VirtualDub choose audio -- direct stream copy -- save wav and rename it to .ac3. Now download Headac3he from doom9.net and you can convert the .ac3 file to .wav or better to .mp2 directly if you want to make SVCD. Just converted Ali from divx to SVCD and it worked great.

  20. runner,
I've got the same problem as you. I got my copy of Graphedit at doom9.org - It's Build 011008. Does anyone know where I can locate a different version that has the Wav Dest filter? I've tried using the headac3he but my computer doesn't have a certain .dll.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank You.

  23. I've finally got the Wav Dest in my filters: go to: http://nickyguides.digital-digest.com/audio-extract.htm & DL the Reg Drop & register the ax files & the Wav Dest will now work.
    Thanks for your help.

    OK you lost me.

    1. I could not find "Wav Dest" on the list of Direct Show Filter.

    2. I could not find ANYTHING in GraphEdit labeled "Morgan Stream Filters."

    3. When I tried to make the input/output connections on the boxes displays I got a compatability error message or something to that effect.

  26. I am trying to use GraphEdit to convert an .ac3 file to .wav. I go to File/Render Media File and open my .ac3 file, and get the following structure for a graph:

MyAC3File.ac3 -> AC3 Parser Filter -> Morgan Stream Switcher -> Cyber Link Audio Decoder -> Morgan Stream Switcher

From the doom9.org guide for using GraphEdit, it says:
Delete the DivX Decoder Filter, Video Renderer and Default Direct Sound devide.

What are the DivX Decoder Filter and Video Renderer objects in this structure? And if they are not showing up, why is this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  27. As a follow-up to my last post, which object do I need to delete before adding the wav and file output objects?

You could check the images in my guide pages.
    Sorry, they are in Swedish..
In the top picture, you see "TA BORT" = Remove...
And in the second picture, you see the correct
structure to get a' wav file..

  29. Thanks Camron!

I now know what object to delete, but I do have another question: In your guide, you show the objects needed to convert an .avi file to .wav, and I am converting a .ac3 file to .wav. In GraphEdit I have the following objects:

    MyFile.ac3 -> AC3 Parser Filter -> Cyberlink Audio Decoder -> Morgan Stream Switcher -> WAV Dest -> MyFile.wav

Are these the exact objects needed to convert an .ac3 file to .wav?

I'm not shure if it's working.. But you could try it..
Since I only tested ac3 from avi files.
If you already got an ac3 file, searc for a' program called
HeadAC3he. There was a' guide for this program here at
vcdhelp earlier. But I didn't find it now.. Gone maybe ?
