  1. Hi,

Using Auto Gordian Knot 2.55 to convert a movie currently in VOB format to AVI but get a VirtualDub Error dialog saying:

    Avisynth open failure:
Resize: Source image too small for this resize method. Width=2, Support=3
    (C:\Users\My User Name\Documents\DVDFab\MainMovie\Movie Name\VIDEO_TS\agk_tmp\Movie Name_comptest.avs, line 18)

I know I've seen this at least once before and as far as I can recall I managed to find a solution to the problem but can't remember what it was.

Any idea what's wrong or how to solve this?

    TIA,

    Richard

  2. I suspect auto cropping isn't working right.

  3. I found my old post about the very same problem and you're right it's the auto cropping that isn't working as it should for some reason. I tried modifying the auto cropping parameters and by setting one of the values (can't remember the name of the parameter out of my head) to zero I don't get the error but instead the conversion that normally lasts for about 20 minutes only takes about 10 seconds and obviously the result is a failure.

Since this appears to be a Auto GK problem can you or someone else recommend a good free program to convert my VOB files to AVI contained format? I might add that I'm using 64 bit Win 7.

  4. I don't use AutoGK but doesn't it show you the AviSynth script it's going to use? Can you post that? There's some secret dialog you can bring up with more controls -- something like Alt+F9. Maybe there's something there.

Maybe that's what you were referring to.

I would use DgIndex to build an index file of the VOB sequence, an AviSynth script to open the index, then encode with VirtualDub and Xvid. That's essentially what AutoGK does but you have complete control since your doing it all manually.

Other automated programs include Xvid4PSP (which does a lot more than the name implies) and MeGUI.

  5. Tried Xvid4PSP with success, thanks for the tip! However I never managed to have Xvid4PSP include the subtitles but I can live without them.

make use of the 16x16pixel multiple for video frmaer size, because divx requires either 640 either 656 and may allow user
to make a fool out of himself if you feed it a ''wrong'' multpile-not-of16 pixel width video.
