When you say they are horrible, do you mean s-video and component?
Cause s-video worked perfect, i donīt see anything looking any worse?
And if Component can do the same it would be awesome, but it seems like they canīt, but i donīt really wana pay a fortune for the splitter.
Itīs just for my Wii, so only need to split in one time.
Thanks -
Depends on the quality you want to achieve. Low-voltage and low-strength analog video has a much more noise than you think, and most encoders don't "digest" low-density signals very well.

well, if it looks the same, than i am pretty happy i guess.
If itīs dark or alot of noise disturbing the detail of the picture then i wouldnīt want it, but i donīt think there was any real difference when i shared pictured.
Think it went pretty well, so if component is the same, i would be satisfied
But i do think i wonīt be that lucky, as people says it becomes very dark;O -
It's easy for you to test that. The luma signal of component (green connector) is the same as the luma signal of s-video, and the same as the luma portion of composite -- they all carry the luma and sync signals. You can take the luma output of the component signal and split it to two devices (component, s-video, composite) using a simply y adapter and see what happens. With only the luma cable connected you will get a greyscale picture.
Just out of curiosity I tested splitting of a composite signal from my cable box to my DV camcorder (it has a composite input) and my ATI 650 USB2 capture card. The capture card couldn't sync. The camcorder recorded the video but it overcompensated for the signal loss and gave a blown out picture:
composite straight from cable box to camcorder:
composite split:
This was a 720p DVR recording paused on a single frame, downscaled by the cable box to SD composite. When paused like this it deinterlaces by repeating a single field.Last edited by jagabo; 14th Jan 2012 at 09:50.

Gradients look disturbed, as well. I never noticed that part before, but I haven't tried splitting (or cheap cable-line splitters, either) for more than 20 years.

I wouldn't use the images to judge much else about the splitter. They're jpegs at 75 percent.
-
That explains the edgy gradients, then (75% ?). The bottom image isn't anything I'd want to try to correct, much less try to watch for long. Even without AGC, the results look very rough.

Oh i see, but did the TV do a good signal compensation?
And as i currently canīt test it, i was wondering, if my TV can compensate S-video, and it carries the same Luma and such as im one of the Component cables, does that mean that it can compensate it on that as well?
Or are they totally separated and itīs a give or take?
And is it only the one with Luma and Sync it needs to compensate?
donīt the other ones matter?
Thanks -
Apparently, since the picture looked the same to you.
There's no way of answering that. The TV may assume higher quality sources aren't compromised, so it may bypass the compensation. You won't know until you've tried it.
Both (s-video) or all three (component) have to be asjusted. But only the luma pin has the sync signals to use as a reference. -
Ah I see
Well only need to get a good splitter now, and i can try between my TVs atleast, then there is the card problem.
But sadly i canīt find any good component splitters, would like
http://www.ebay.com/itm/PREMIUM-3-RCA-RGB-RG-6-u-Component-Video-Splitter-/37057780822...item5648289b65
But well as i live in Sweden it cost hell to transport, which doesnīt compensate the cost of the product itself, so my only choice is pretty much cheap splitters, but i think the connectors are to tight on those.
Any ideas where to get good splitters in sweden?
Thanks
EDIT: seems like the one i link is also too close, atleast from a review on Amazon;S -
Run down to your local electronics store and get three of these:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/PHONO-AUDIO-VIDEO-SPLITTER-ADAPTER/dp/B000L980MU/
Or these:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Female-Phono-Sockets-Splitter-electrosmart/dp/B0051F8JM0/ -
Ah nice, forgot about those!
But need to get three of those, and Male to Female as the splitter part is male to female, but that should work -
Does
http://www.ebay.com/itm/5FT-3-RCA-3-RCA-COMPOSITE-AV-AUDIO-VIDEO-CABLE-Male-/320828218...item4ab2da1cd0
these work as component cables?
EDIT: Tested these cables, or not exactly these, but well some that i had, and i worked, so bought adapters and 2 3xrca, so i can test it outLast edited by zerowalker; 19th Jan 2012 at 15:03.

Okay, have gotten a PS2 meanwhile, and must say that i get very much noise. There are horizontal lines all over the screen, S-video as well as RGB Scart.
The Capture is with S-video, shared connection though, but it looks pretty much the same i think. -
The link shows what are clearly labeled as composite video+left channel+right channel cables. They will "work", you might say, but the two audio cables will likely not have the correct impedance at desired video input frequencies -- cheap audio wire tends to have too much capacitance for video use. But these are such low cost cables, it's likely the maker used the same core wire for all three parts.
They might do for testing, just to see if you get a signal. But don't expect optimum image performance. For component use you need three video cables or a 3-wire component set.Last edited by sanlyn; 25th Mar 2014 at 14:18.

Arenīt they Horisontal? North to South? or is that Vertical;S?
Anyway, you probably see what i mean, hard not to;P
Yeah read about that, with the Audio wire not being good, but well, as you said, itīs for testing, i will see if the picture goes to worse or stay the same etc. -
North to south is vertical. My PS2 caps (ATI 650 USB) don't show that. Though it's possible it's below the base black level the capture device can capture. I did a quick test with a Hauppauge PVR-250 and the blacks were similar.
-
By the way, I suggest you get a real component video cable. But if you have a composite A/V cable (yellow/red/white RCA connectors) sitting around you might as well try it.
-
Will get when i know that my TV supports Auto Gain through Component
Hmm, well that sucks, donīt know why i get that noise. Any ideas?
Is your PS2 old(fat model) or new?
I bought and old model, and itīs pretty dusty, donīt know if cleaning the connector does any change, but donīt really think that is whate makes those lines.
Will try again now, but with the ps2 in the same power outlet.
Yours look fantastic compared to mine;O
EDIT: Well looks a bit better, though that may be cause i am not sharing connection with the TV.
Though itīs still there. I am wondering if itīs the PS2 or if itīs a PAL thing.
What do you have?
NTSC or PAL?
EDIT 2: saw that it was 29.97 fps and 480 height, så guess NTSC, that brings hope that itīs a PAL thing in one way.Last edited by zerowalker; 22nd Jan 2012 at 13:57.

Okay i think i got Ground Loop on my PS2.
if i go to "Browse Disc" i can see, green and red lines rolling up on my TV(LCD). itīs mostly on like the half right side.
And it doesnīt always appear visibly well.
I had them in the same power outlet, still the same. Other, the same.
but it really come and goes, now i see it clearly, on a bit more than half the screen;O
but then it can go away, donīt know why though;O
EDIT: That is with RGB, with AV through Scart, the part that has the Ground loop goes, "green" Dark something. while the other part to the left has the original color.
Starting to think itīs now ground loop, any ideas?
EDIT 2: Tried using S-video direct to the S-video connection, itīs better, but still dark green at the end right;S
EDIT 3: Have now tried connecting them to the same splitter (pc and everyting) no change, tried turning of the splitter to see if it interfered and put them on an own power outlet. No change, removed all other cabler from the TV, no change.
I can only think that the PS2 is not shielded enough or isnīt ground looped or something.
Hope someone knows anything, as i am out of ideas.Last edited by zerowalker; 26th Jan 2012 at 16:18.

You're getting a green image when trying to play DVDs on your PS2 in RGB?
That's a known problem with at least some PS2 models. My own PS2 slim has never worked properly with DVDs using RGB, yet for games the picture is fine.
I don't know if this is the same problem you're getting. The green screen was always uniformly green for me.
Apologies if I've misunderstood what you're doing - I've only skimmed the last few posts in this thread. -
Sadly itīs wrong, but yeah i know about the DVD problem with RGB.
But mine is just "green" if in dark places on composite or S-video, but not really green more like, dark blurry greenish?
It comes from the lines that i can see in RGB (Green and Red) i think. -
Does anyone know if this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CCTV-IP-Camera-Power-Supply-AC-Adapter-DC-9v-500mA-EU-/37045...item5640c861f6
Is the correct power adapter to use in sweden for http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-CAHNNEL-AUDIO-VIDEO-DISTRIBUTION-AMPLIFIER-AV-400COMP-AV400C...51348516163762
I am not too good with the electronic stuff sadly.
Thanks -
Looks like it. They both say 9V AC, 500 mA. The only question is if their both the same 2.1 mm connector.
-
The AC->DC downconverter pictured might or might not be appropriate, for 3 reasons: (a) the small input plug might not physically fit properly into the DC power input of the amplifier, (b) the polarity of the adapter's input might be positive for the outer ring and negative for the inner spike of the input plug, or it could be the reverse with ground in the outer ring and positive in the inner spike, and (c) most inexpensive adapters of the type shown have too much noise for the amplifier to work properly.
You are better off with a 220->110v AC power inverter. These cost more than AC->DC adapters (but not a fortune), but they allow you to use the DC power adapter which is furnished with the amp. I purchased these inverters or voltage "downscalers" when I was in the UK so that I could use my 110v battery rechargers and electric shaver in the UK and Europe. I found mine in a big camera shop in Edinburgh, but I also saw them in hardware and electronics stores. Many people in Europe buy them when they are planning trips to the U.S. or Canada.Last edited by sanlyn; 25th Mar 2014 at 14:18.

Think i will go with the Power Inverter.
What should i have for Watt and stuff?
Or does it not matter? -
You need to look locally for something appropriate for the AC voltage of your area (Sweden, isn't it?) that will down-convert to 110v-60Hz AC. Offhand I didn't find a site in Sweden, but this site in North America will give info on the conversion required:
http://www.adaptelec.com/index.php?main_page=document_general_info&products_id=194 . I never traveled in Sweden, but as I stated elsewhere, I bought appropriate adapters in Scotland for using U.S. devices while traveling in the UK and France. The principles of downconverting 220v to 110v are the same, but the physical appearance of the converter's plug-ins will differ for most countries. Basically a North American AC plug has two parallel prongs (sometimes a third ground plug, but this isn't always present and I don't see a 3rd ground plug on the AC-DC adapter you're talking about. A two-prong North American adapter has no problem working with a 2-plus-ground connection; the 3rd ground wire is missing on many appliances and doesn't have to be connected). But the slots for input studs on the 220v side are physically different in different areas. If you get your downscaler locally, it will have the correct 220v configuration.Last edited by sanlyn; 25th Mar 2014 at 14:18.

Okay, didnīt find anywhere to get it either, so will have to an electronic shop i think as you recommend.
Will try to get a hold of it before i buy it, so i got one problem solved.
Thanks
