I have a ton of footage that I've been capturing over the past few weeks. Most of the time, I'll have 30 minutes-worth of footage but will only need 5 minutes from the whole thing. Is there any way to pull the footage that I need and discard the rest without any form of re-compression? Some sort of direct-stream copy option for a particular section that won't descync the audio? I am capturing using a BMD Intensity Shuttle and AVI Motion JPEG compression.

yes - use virtualdub and use direct stream copy. Just cut and it saves it as is. I've never worked with mjpeg video but I'm sure if the regular vdub doesn't immediately see it virtualdubmod will. Or open with the directshowsource avisynth template to read the file.
