I have a backup copy of Xmen that I made years ago and decided to watch today. When I watch on my Philips 5990 it plays fine but on the PS3 right at 27 minutes 19 seconds, right after Wolverine says "What is this place", the playback just stops. If I fast forward it will eventually starts playing after skipping a few seconds of the movie and I can continue to watch but if I dont fast forward it will not play. This also happens at a few other spots but I got annoyed and just took out the disc and watched it on netflix instead. Its been a while but I assume my original backup was done with DVD shrink then burned with imgburn since that has really always been my method. Can anyone who has a backup of this movie and a PS3 try it on theirs and see if they get the same results? Thanks

    Maybe a media problem.

Even though it plays fine on 5990 and on PC?

  4. Yes. Media Problem. That is ALMOST ALWAYS the problem with a disk that plays in one hardware but not another.

The disk with the original problem was a Memorex, admittedly a garbage disc however I just tried a TGY01 and the problem persists.... it appears that the freezing happens at the exact moment a VOB ends and a new one begins. if that's any help in solving this puzzle. Even on the player where it does not freeze there is a noticeable 1 second of black screen before the next scene comes up.... As a possible workaround for this particular movie I just extracted it to a single MPG file with VOB2MPG and burned that to a disc but for some reason I get no sound on my ps3 even though there is sound when played on the pc, but that's a whole other issue I will explore at another time.

Rerip from the original disc. Burn with imgburn. That should be all you need. (and using the better quality discs too )
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?
