I ripped a DVD and want to make a copy with Toast. I have version 8.0. I'm using a G5 for this project. The rip (a full disc rip done with MacTheRipper) is 6.65 GB. I'm using Verbatim DVD+R DL discs. However, when I try to move the VIDEO_TS folder into Toast, it says, "The contents of this VIDEO_TS folder cannot be compressed". I've been burning other DVD rips and don't recall having this problem until now. I have "Fit-To-DVD compression" checked and have it set on the VIDEO_TS DVD setting, the same settings I've used for other successful burns from VIDEO_TS folders. Any ideas as to how I can fix this?

It doesn't need compressed if you are using dual layer discs.

If you are going to burn a 6.65 GB VIDEO_TS folder to a DVD+R DL disc (7.9 GB capacity), then you do NOT need to have "Fit-To-DVD compression" checked, as that setting would try to shrink it to 4.3 GB for single layer discs.

I unchecked the "Fit-To-DVD compression" box and it still gives me the same complaint when I try to drag in the TS folder. This makes no sense.

You could try burning this DVD as a "Data" disc with the UDF file system. Set a disc name, add the VIDEO_TS folder and an (empty) AUDIO_TS folder.
Toast shouldn't do any further checks (except for capacity), so it shouldn't give the error again.
If the VIDEO_TS folder is good, then the resulting DVD disc should be good.

It should also still act as a video disc, then?

Ok that worked, except I can't change the angle and the subs aren't there either. Any way to fix this?

Re-rip with all angles and all subs. Those features are defined and embedded in the VIDEO_TS folder; if these features are missing on the burned disc, then they weren't there in the VIDEO_TS folder, from which the disc was burned.

I used MacTheRipper though, and I think I told it to do a full disc rip, meaning the subs and other angle should be there. In any case, I don't have the original disc anymore, so I wouldn't be able to do a re-rip.

EDIT: I just tested the disc in my computer, and everything is there. For some reason the movie itself seems to look a little window-boxed on VLC, though (not the menus, just the main feature). However, when I tell it to play on my family's player, it does allow sub or angle options. So it's on the disc, but the player won't recognize it. Doubt whether this can be fixed, huh.

EDIT: I checked the original file, and I looks like I may have only ripped the main feature and not the whole disc after all. However, this still doesn't explain to me while subs and angles work on the computer and not on the DVD player with the TV.
