    Hi everyone,

I bought 2 venturer PVS-1371 portalbe (car) dvd players several years ago. Put it side by side in my car. View days ago I just realized that one of them cannot play backup copy of my original DVDs. It only plays original DVDs. The other one play original and backup with no problem. It say no valid disc. It is important for me to make up backup copy as my kids always scratch my DVDs collection.
I clean it up with cd cleaner several times, but still no result.

What should I do? Please kindly help me.

    Cheers,
    Geninq

Yes it is the same disc. I put those 2 venturer PVS-1371 side by side in my minivan. Strange? It still can play original dvd though.

    Please help.

    Thanks!

If they both can play the original then it can only be two things....it's a +R -R issue or it's just a crappy media(Memorex or worse) issue.

I use the same back up dvd (dvd-r) and I play it with two exactly same player. One play and the other one cannot.
So I just move the disc from one player to another.

    Please help.

I wish there was a definite answer but in all honesty you may never find one. A different chip set in one of the player(manufacturers often use different "basic" hardware during production runs)? If one plays a disc...and you put that same exact disc in the other player and it chokes on it...I don't think there is a whole lot you can do about it other than the process of elimination that you've already done. The only thing not mentioned so far was trying a +R disc bitset to a DVD-Rom disc with something like ImgBurn.

Thank you for your reply. Well maybe the manufacturer use a different chipset or different firmware on the chipset. I call them and they charge $40 to fix the problem. I bought the unit for $50.

    Thanks for your reply anyway.
