I have a Blu-Ray .iso file already stored on my HDD and would like to create a DVD disk from it, complete with menus and extras, etc.
Before I spend too long trying to work out how to do this can someone tell me if it is at all possible, please, or am I just wasting my time trying?
Thanks!![]()

It is possible to create a dvd from a blu ray source. Most of us who do so only convert the main movie however. If you want to make a movie with all the extras, this will take a lot of work. And you'll have to make your own menu. Subtitle conversion is its own special hell.
I've been having a lot of trouble converting DTS HD MA audio to dvd compliant AC3 without audio/video sync issues. I've had a much easier time converting other types of audio from the original Blu ray.
Some of the tools you might need include a virtual drive like Slysoft's VirtualClone Drive, BDSup2Sub, AVStoDVD (or just use HCenc by itself), ClownBD, and a dvd authoring program (I normally use DVD Lab Pro).
So, this is possible, though not simple. And as far as I am aware, you won't be able to keep the original menus. Much easier to just buy the dvd. -

You can then use the stripped dts core and convert to ac3 with any number of programs - eac3to should be able to do it directly as well.
Hope this helps.
Edit - and the other posters are correct menus are almost impossible to preserve - correction I should probably say they ARE impossible to preserve. Also a lot of blurays don't even have menus - the movie just starts and you access everything through the pop up menus.
If you want a professional looking menu on a dvd you should get the dvd version of the movie in question - much simpler solution. Though of course you can create your own menus but they won't be exactly like the bluray.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -

rasinton - I suggest you define exactly what you mean when you say "create a DVD disk from it". You could mean
1) Convert everything - menu, film, extras - to DVD format.
or
2) Burn it to a DVD disc to have smaller size but keep everything in BluRay format.
Everyone is just assuming you mean #1 here. -
Yes, option 1) is what I would like to do. From the answers it looks highly unlikely!
So, as an alternative I would settle for taking the BluRay .iso file, extracting the main movie and putting that on a DVD disc. What is best way to do this without running into audio sync problems? -

Since you live in England, you'll probably want to put a check mark in the box for Assume PAL for dvd output in Settings-->Setup within BD Rebuilder.
