Time is off when joining with My MP4Box GUI

I have some videos that came off my wife's handheld camera. I converted them to H264 with Handbrake - all of them on the same settings. I wanted to join them with My MP4Box GUI, and when I do they join correctly, but something is off on the time.

If you view the properties of the created file the time is showing longer than the time of the original files combined. When I play the file back, it plays ok unless I scrub to the end - it just quits. So the entire video will play, but the end of the video is at about 75%-80% of the scrubber.

Why is the time off like this and how can I fix it?

what kind of "handheld camera" ?

use mediainfo (view=>text) and copy & paste the info back here from a) the original file, b) handbrake encoded file

maybe try joining the files before encoding ?

It's a Kodak EasyShare camera - not a video camera. So it takes rudimentary videos. Here's the info from MediaInfo.

Is it because it's VBR? Any why would the Codec IDs be different?

but VFR (variable FRAME rate) ALWAYS causes problems

I think you made a mistake or omitted the original information. Post the mediainfo for the original file (ie. from the camera)

If it shoots VFR, then you have a problem

If it shoots CFR, then manually entering the FPS in handbrake or "same as source" should solve the VFR encoding issue, then they should join

I gotcha now - I thought you meant one of the original files I tried to join. Here's the info from one of the AVI files off the camera. It's got a framerate of 29.533. If Handbrake is set up for the framerate to be "Same As Source", why is it ending up as VFR?

that is a very odd frame rate, and suspicious for VFR, but VFR isn't possible in AVI container

If you have time to do some tests, I would manually try entering 29.97 in handbrake

If that doesn't work, try manually entering 29.533


Actually, before you try that, try joining the AVI files in virtualdub or avidemux first. If that's in sync, then encode with handbrake

Well, I tried using the standard 29.97 and it didn't work. The videos encoded and play ok, but when I join them I get the same result. When I select all the videos it shows the time as 3:39, but the joined one shows 4:54 and has the same issues when scrubbing.

Next I'm going to try using the 29.533 framerate, and then I'll try joining the AVIs first, and then encoding.

Ok, so here's a little more on this. got 3 new files I wanted to convert and join. I haven't had any success joining them as AVIs because for some reason something's funky with the audio in the AVIs and Avidemux doesn't like it. So, I've converted these and made them all 29.97 fps, but when I join them, the join file is still coming up as VFR. Here's the info from MediaInfo. The top file is the combined one and the bottom 3 are the ones I joined.

Ok, so here's a little more on this. got 3 new files I wanted to convert and join. I haven't had any success joining them as AVIs because for some reason something's funky with the audio in the AVIs and Avidemux doesn't like it. So, I've converted these and made them all 29.97 fps, but when I join them, the join file is still coming up as VFR. Here's the info from MediaInfo. The top file is the combined one and the bottom 3 are the ones I joined.
