  1. I am finding more recently that when i go to purchase some video content online, they are in rmvb format. From what i know rmvb will not play on the xbox 360?? If this is the case should i steer clear of movies that are in rmvb format or are they worth converting? I noticed they are quite small files ad hear they have good quality audio video etc so what are my options?

If i did convert a file in rmvb what is the best format to do so and will Xilisoft 6 do the trick?

I'd stay away from that format.

Real Media is a garbage codec in terms of quality. It was designed many years ago under very different circumstances on the internet when speeds were low and PCs were not very powerful. It made files small by doing crazy things like throwing away frames. You had to make files about half the resolution of VCD to get anything remotely resembling decent quality out of it.

I know that anime people use it and for the life of me I do not understand why anime fans are just hell bent on using the crappiest and most bizarre codecs that exist to encode their stuff. Honestly, it is so bad in terms of quality that you would have to give it to me for free before I'd even consider looking at it. There is no way I'd pay for it.

Various programs can convert RMVB but be warned - garbage in, garbage out. Don't expect miracles if the source is actually low quality to begin with. Sorry, I don't know if Xilisoft can convert it. RMVB is so bad that I haven't willingly downloaded a file using it in many years. Most media players don't support it because it sucks and also it's protected under patent and it costs money to license it and nobody wants to pay even a dime to license it because it's so bad.
