Hello there.
Without beating around the bush, my blu-ray player (model BD-P1580 Samsung) won't recognize the from mkv to avchd converted video file for whatever reason. I followed these two tutorials regarding using tsmuxer and imgburn:
http://www.bitburners.com/articles/convert-mkv-files-to-blu-ray-or-avchd-for-playstati...-tsmuxer/4019/
http://www.dvd-guides.com/guides/blu-ray-copy/260-burn-blu-ray-avchd-using-imgburn
I followed the exact steps, everything was -according to the programs- finished appropriately yet my blu-ray player can't play the file because it apparently doesn't recognize the video file. I don't know how to check exact video details, but all information I can give you is that it's a blu-ray rip, 1920x1080 h264 AAC.
I don't know what else I can do as this is my first time fiddling around with conversion. Every help is appreciated.
PS: My bluray player has the latest updates installed.

You could try multiAVCHD as it produces discs that most (but not all) BluRay players can play. I happen to have one of the rare machines that won't play anything it makes though. I'm a little concerned that tsmuxer didn't work for you. It really should have. Did you convert the audio? AAC isn't valid for BluRay. You may need to produce BluRay format discs rather than AVCHD format discs. Some players are fussy about that. Finally, what media are you using to burn to? Have you tried to play the disc on a PC to verify that the disc is OK?

The disc doesn't play on the PC, it says the file is unknown.
Unfortunately I don't have any knowledge regarding this subject at all. How would I go about converting AAC audio and how do I produce BluRay format discs most effectively? If there's some way to view information of the video file that might help, please let me know so I can provide it.
Shall I go with multiAVCHD for now and see if that works or can I save an extra DVD-R? -
That is one of the problems we've got here. Look, we all had to start somewhere and we were all just like you at one point. But you ignored one of my questions and I can't say that I've got a good feeling that trying to hold your hand through the conversion process would be an effective use of your time or mine. If you REALLY want to learn how to do this yourself you can do the research on the internet to find out how.
I'm just going to cut to the chase here. Trying to convert files to BluRay format just so your Samsung will play them is just a colossal waste of your time and resources, not to mention ours in trying to help you when it's always possible that you may not ever really understand how to do this kind of thing. Just buy a media streamer like one of the Western Digital models or something similar and play your files that way without conversion. Trying to use a DVD or BluRay player as a "plays everything" player is just a waste of time.

If you're willing to play from USB sticks or drives the WD Live TV Plus could meet your needs. I bought the first generation WD player about 2 and a half years ago and that thing has more than paid for itself in enabling me to just put files on USB sticks and plug them in and start watching without spending a minute on conversion. -
I'm deeply sorry, I really didn't want to come across as a jerk. I admit that I'm not the tech-savvy guy who delves all too deep into more trivial things. I had hoped there was a simpler solution, but if it's that complicated, then there's really no point.
I was extra making sure to give as much information as possible yet I missed one of your questions. If it's that much work to get a simple file on a specific BluRay player working, then I might as well just get a different player that has a bigger range of playable files and save me all the trouble.
Nonetheless I'll try your suggestion of using multiAVCHD to see if the file may magically work for whatever reason that way. I'll keep my eyes open on the net for other tutorials and see what I'll stumble upon.
Again, I'm sorry. Let's trash this thread and carry on with our stuff, shall we? :P
