A friend uses his Sony 610 camcorder quite a bit and almost always uses dvd+r dl discs. Recently he was going to continue recording because his camcorder indicated that he still had 37 minutes of recording time left. However, after turning it off and turning it back on a few minutes later, he noticed the camcorder indicated that he had 57 minutes of recording time left, which is essentially a blank disc.

He has tried ISOBuster and CDRoller and both are unable to recover or even see anything on the disc. They both see it as a blank disc. Has anyone had this sort of problem and if so, what software did you use to recover your files?

    Any suggestions are appreciated.

1: Swap a blank into the camera and do a test run, remove and shut camera down.

2: Insert bad disc and go through the user manual and confirm if the camera is able to determine sessions ... if so use the camera to finalize the disc first.

Note: If camera unable then do not finalize disc

About the bottom line is a pc lg dvd burner (less picky) and sony vegas combined to recover data ... it's a setup Ive used before to recover problematic discs.

Q: There are two parts to this.

    1: dvd+r dl?

What brand exactly was used ... only verbatim is trusted when it comes to DL media

    2: "He has tried"

More info ... what is / are the optical drives that have been used for this purpose ... some are junk and make sure his units support + media .

As for the first part of your reply, I will have to get back to you after I relay the info and get his results.
