Does anyone know a fix? I click on Video>Subtitles Track>Open File and there is no browse window to choose the file. Please advise.

Check the file with MediaInfo. VLC plays most any subs with no problems, so I would suspect the file first. If you post the output of the MediaInfo scan, tree view, we could probably give you some better advice.

Sometimes VLC's file/open fails if there is some odd file in the folder it can't recognise. Put the video and sub in a separate folder.

Also VLC will by default open subs if they have the same filename as the video (with the appropriate extension).
