  1. Hello All,

I have been on this site for years just haven't posted much. Here's a new situation I hope someone can shed some light on. I am a videogrpaher and I do alot of dance recitals. I have a client who wants me to transmit a signal from my center cam to the back stage area in a dressing room so the kids can watch the show when they are waiting to take the stage. I had some cheap basic video transmitters like the ones at this link....

    http://cgi.ebay.com/2-4GHz-Wireless-Audio-Video-AV-Transmitter-Receiver-NEW-/320692464...item4aaac2ab4a

They did not do well. If I held it just right we would get a signal but the moment I left it was gone. Tthe parents just turned off the set and didn't even try. I don't know if it's because they are weak, or the frequency....1.2 vs 2.4 or just the output power. I saw these transmitters....

Which look real nice but I don't know if the problem is the 1.2 frequency or just low power output. If anyone can shed some light on these things I would greatly appreciate it.

I have one which attemped to play a signal from a sat receiver to a tv in another room - not very far away.

The signal was never strong enough even though both transmitter and receiver were mains powered. Too many things can influence them such as bouncing the signal off walls so that the actual signal distance is much more than what is rec 'line of sight'

Then, like you said, if the units are not steady the signal deteriorates again. And if you are in an envoirment like a concert hall where there can be movements that you can not control eg a loose flooring you have even less chance.

My problem was solved with a length of coax between the sat box and the tv. No interference and a steady signal. A length of wire in a public hall may create a safety issue but it is the only, IMO, real solution.

  3. Here at the ranch we use this kind of setup to transmit video over power wiring.
