I'm trying to do a conversion from DTS to AC3 using AvsP, using the same script I have used a hundred of times. The script is very simple:

    >

    nicdtssource("i:\file.dts")

    soundout

    >

But I am getting this error message:

"An error occurred while fetching samples.
    Current sampleblock will be skipped.
Woud you like to abort conversion."

What error is that and why is it happening?

I extracted the DTS file using MKVextract, as I always do. I even did the extraction again, but I'm getting the same error.

    What should I do?

I always convert the DTS files to AC3 because their size is smaller and because sometimes my Blu-ray player refuses to play DTS files.

  2. probably audio is damaged

you can try other source filter e.g. ffaudiosource, directshowsource, but you will probably get same error

you can try converting with eac3to, as it has some repair functions and can patch gaps

    Thanks, I will try eac3to.

That was my program of choice for audio conversions before using AvsP.

Well, it's been a long time that I loaded my dts file into Eac3to, and the program it's not "coming back".

Which probably means it can't fix the file.

I remember than when you loaded a file on Eac3to it took less than a minute to load it, probably checking it, and opening the choices for you to pick for conversion.

    What else can I do?

Just to put an end to this question. I could find a way out.

At first I thought I could another file with no problem, so I got another one. Same error issues.

So I loaded the file in Xilisoft Video Converter, who saved me on other difficult cases, and used it to convert the DTS file onto a 640K AC3 file.

It went beautiful. No out of sync issues, as I was afraid there might be, and I could merge a new mkv file with everything alright.

Maybe not the purest way, but got me out of the woods.
