converting .jpg stills for standard def DV
1) I would convert to 648 x 480?? --I will shoot the jpgs at 1600 x 1200 in order to fill up
the whole screen.. looking to crop and have not black in still or small amt of black on edge...
2) I remember that I used photoshop to to an automation/batch conversion... I
will have hundreds of files as I'm doing some stop motion??
3) should I convert to BMP or PSD so Premiere 6.5 doesnt freak out??

	I am confused.

What is the significance of 648*480 ?

I am no photo expert but surely you can not shoot at 1600*1200. A photo image is 3*2 so that would be 1800*1200.

But, again, neither are appropiate for 16:9 widescreen. I work in PAL and that means cropping to 1024*576. I assume, someone may correct me that NTSC, if that is what you use, would be 1024*480

Photo cameras are PREDOMINANTLY 3:2, but not all of them are. Especially cameras in Phones.

 NTSC-
 4:3 - try using 640x480 with 1:1 PAR, or 704 or 720x480 with 10:11 PAR
 16:9 - try usig 852x480 with 1:1 PAR, or 704 or 720x480 with 30:44 PAR

Use a Photoshop script that includes actions that:
 1. Don't resize, but change the DPI to 72 (Image Size, no resampling)
 2. Crop to a 4:3 or 16:9 window (Crop, w/constraints)
 3. Resize to one of the options listed above (Image Size, resampling, non-proportional)
 4. Adjust other features as needed (color gamut, gamma, vertical motion/gaussian blur, etc)
 5. Save as PSD (just in case), and BMP or PNG for input to Premiere.
