I'm new at this and want to know how I can convert multiple AVI files into 1 VOB file to burn a DVD.
Thanks

It's a bit more complicated than just creating a VOB. You might want to look to the upper left on this page for 'WHAT IS' DVD to see the DVD structure, format and specifications.
EDIT: Sorry, I didn't notice this was the ffmpegX forum. But our members here should be able to help you.
And welcome to our forums.

G'day Brendan,
EDIT: Sorry, I made the same mistake as Redwudz. Didn't see this was a FFMPEGX question.
A couple of options spring to mind.
1).. If the AVI's are identical resolutions, codecs etc. you could open them all in AVIMux, extract their elemental streams & re-mux them all back into a single AVI. FAVC will accept the single AVI & author a DVD from it.
2).. You could burn them as individual titles onto a DVD. Again, FAVC will allow this & will create a simple menu structure for them all.

1/ Do you want to merge a multi-part movie or just have several short movies on one DVD?
2/ It may be easier or less problematic to convert to DVD compliant mpeg first (using the same settings), and then merge the output files.
3/ For a two-part or three-part movie, I wouldn't merge at all, as this can be solved in the authoring stage, by automatically jumping from the end of part one to the start of part two.
Merging files that have not been creating in one process, may result in problems like glitches and loss of sync. By not merging the source files, this can often be avoided.
Users of the registered version of ffmpegX can use the svcdvd tool to make a DVD from a folder of .mpg files. This would result in a no-menu DVD that plays all segments, one after the other. The order will be based on the alphabetical sorting order of the source files.
