    Dear All,

Besides MPC-HC, I saw 'Standalone Filters' in the sourceforge site.
What does it mean.. Is it need to be installed too?
After downloaded, I only see all contains ax files include 1 dll.

My Question: Is it just for portable use.. if not, what are the benefits?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. The standalone filter package contains all the filters used in MPCHC as individual DirectShow filters. If you are using MPCHC you don't need the standalone filters, they are all built into MPCHC.

The standalone filters are useful for giving other media players some of the features of MPCHC. For example, Windows and WMP don't know what MKV files are. You could install the MKV reader/splitter from the MPCHC standalone package to let Windows know that MKV is an A/V container, and give WMP the ability to play MKV files.

Hi Jagabo, one more... I found something strange that I do not understand. Could you tell me..why?
This day if I open the two sites at the same time, would be found as follows:

    1) http://www.free-codecs.com/Media_Player_Classic_Home_Cinema_download.htm
This download page for MPC-HomeCinema 1.5.2.3103
    2) http://sourceforge.net/projects/mpc-hc/files/
This download page for MPC-HomeCinema.1.5.1.2903, but an old version than above!

    I have 2 questions:
    a) Why did the MPC in their official site even has an old version compared to other sites, while the Sourceforge as the original MPC's developer?
    b) When you open tag 2) above to choose MPCHC - Win32, then click the top item > seen there are 3 options, so its strange that exe file even smaller than the exe contained in the Zip and 7z (Exe filesize in both archives = ±9MB) - So weird...?¿?

    Thank you in advance.

It looks like Sourceforge has the latest stable build, freecodecs.com has a later nightly build.

I don't know. But different archiving programs have different abilities. I suspect the archiver that was used to build the self extracting/installing EXE was able to find common elements in all the files for better compression, whereas the ZIP file compressed each file individually.

Right, for tag1 I can still understand, but in the tag2 I am still puzzled why the Sourceforge make a difference which is not very common!

Anyway, I would like to thank you for the explanation - Cheers.. Jagabo.
