Hi guys
I'am working on my project in dvdlab and I have this problem:
I cut the video file in 2 parts, I added manually some chapters and then I linked some of them to a submenu. Simulation in dvdlab works ok. I burn the project into a dvd. On the computer dvd works fine (PowerDVD and other players). With a big smile I go to check the dvd in stationary player (samsung) and... my smile is gonewhen I play the movie the chapters are not working, like they are not there. I click "next" on the remote and just red, crossed circle appears in the corner and nothing happens. I go back to computer and the same disc works perfectly on the pc software... However, the chapters that I have linked to the submenu are working - after choosing a position from menu it goes to assigned chapter, but from there the "next" button still does not work...
previously, before splitting the video file, all was ok on the stationary dvd player...
I got stuck again... does someone knowes where is the problem ?

Wow....two posts and you have already broken forum rules.
STOP CROSS-POSTING. -
Author with TDA?
Better final product, easier interface - and you still have motion menus, etc. You only have to worry if the video is 16:9 or 4:3.;/ l ,[____], Its a Jeep thing,

I'am sorry for cross-posting. It was not my intention to post 2 time the same thing. probably it was due to problems with my connection and I thought the first post was not send properly. Is there a way to delete one of them ? I can't find the option.
TDA?
I tried it, but I chose DLP. In the TDA working with video was ok, but in my opinion working with menus was better in DLP. Maybe I was wrong, but now it's a shame to trow out so many houres of my work... -
My intention was to move you from a program with a relatively long learning curve (DLP) which I have owned since version 1.4 - to a program that - once you read the manual - will produce similar results without the effort. Yes, I was stubborn once, but TDA does not have the difficulties DLP did - at least for me.
You can have motion menus, multiple (colorful) buttons, motion background and audio. No .avi files - you work from your mpg files.
Which: Formatfactory can convert most to the standard that you need.;/ l ,[____], Its a Jeep thing,

What was the purpose in cutting the video file ? Are the chapters in only one part of the file ?
Really need more information if we are to offer any real help.
Other than to say that 'next' normally only works for one part or the chapters in one part. You can not jump to a seperate part by just pressing 'next' unless you program a jump to the separate part even without a menu. -
ok, so my problem was this: I want to make a dvd with a martial art sequence. It has more then 100 movements + some other materials in the same video file. Only few of them are chapters that are linked to menu buttons, the rest of them are only for fast browsing the entire video. So in one movie file I can only put 99 chapters, and that's why I had to split file in 2.
after splitting, I added chapters in both video files, linked some of them to menu (these are working ok), but the rest ones are not working in the standalone player (so basically te "next" button on the remote is not working).
I'am not trying to skip from one v.file to another. The last chapter is at the end of the 1st movie and the next one is at the beggining of the 2nd movie but between them there's a link from one movie to another, so I always wait for the moment when 2nd movie is loaded automaticaly, and then I want to skip from one chapter to the next one(s).
so they are not working neither in the first movie nor in the second one.
And I don't know why.... in pc dvd player everything works ok, simulation in dvdlab also works fine, but in standalone player this is not workin at all. -
Ok. So you had the chapters in the original movie. After you split them, did you leave those chapter points or create new ones ?
I would be tempted to author in this way:
1. A menu item for 'Play All' - that will link to a 'Play All' playlist
2. A 'Chapter Menu' which then selects those parts you want to emphasise. There should be no need to set chapter end points as the 'next' button should then select the next chapter. If these chapters are in the first video then you need another playlist which calls the 2nd video after the first. I would not physically link the 2nd video to the first as that may confuse the 'play all' part.
Sounds easy I know but these things can be quite tricky in dvdlab. I do use it but I also use Ulead DVD Workshop and it is very easy to do this then.
